West Gippsland Chorale Inc is an auditioned community choir based in Warragul. Founded in 1985, the West Gippsland Chorale consists of some of the district’s most talented singers, and has established a strong reputation within Gippsland’s choral community for their exciting and diverse performances. Its wide repertoire includes classical choral music of all periods (sacred and secular), madrigals, folk songs from a range of cultures, contemporary compositions (including by Australian composers), and jazz and pop standards. It includes both larger works and programs of short pieces. There are usually three concerts each year: Autumn, Spring, and Christmas, with two performances of each program over one weekend.

On the 23rd Aug 8.00pm and 25th Aug 2.00pm West Gippsland Chorale will present “Toward the Unknown Region” a title piece by Vaughan Williams. Also featuring in this program: Faure – Requiem and Brahms -Nanie. Lovers of classical choral music will have every reason to swoon at this concert.
Sadly this concert will be the last concert with Simon Loveless as Musical Director. We hope you can join us as we celebrate the marvellous contribution he has made to choral music in West Gippsland over the past 7 years.

The West Gippsland Chorale is seeking a Musical Director.
The right candidate will have the skills to consistently challenge the chorale to explore new and interesting music, and have high expectations and musical expertise thus ensuring high quality performances by the chorale. Qualifications in music or music education are preferred, but not required.
This part time – ongoing position begins in August 2019. Rehearsals are currently weekly on a Monday night between 7.20pm and 9.30pm at Wesley of Warragul in Smith Street, Warragul. The chorale employs an accompanist for rehearsals and its present membership is 45 members.
Applications need to include a cover letter, C.V., references, and at least one sample of a concert program. Remuneration will be discussed on application and the position is subject to a probationary period. Short-listed candidates will be interviewed and participate in an audition.
